Don Dugger, Yunhong Jiang, Chris Wright, Kevin Tian Intel Updating Xen for the Client environment ****** Intel & RedHat are joint developing a product that will enhance Xen to operate on Client computers. The goal is to create two separate domains, a Service Operating System running Linux that owns specific hardware and a User Operating System running Windows that owns the bulk of the hardware. The SOS will provide a backend device driver that provides secure access to the frontend driver running on the UOS. This talk will present an overview of the implemented architecture with a discusson of some of the challenges and solutions required for the Client environment. Some of the areas of Xen that needed special handling are memory layout, boot procedures, networking architecture, power management and device virtualization.
