Introduction to Virtualization Xen, XCP, and the Cloud by Patrick F. Wilbur
In the video, we begin introducing Xen (a Type 1 hypervisor), boot XCP out-of-the-box to demonstrate a convenient and fully-featured
way to get an enterprise-grade virtualization solution up and running. We conclude with a simple XenAPI scripting example coded in Python,
and briefly discuss how such a fully-featured API makes Xen ready for your cloud computing needs.
Introduction to the Xen Cloud Platform
XCP combines the Xen hypervisor with enhanced security, storage, and network virtualization technologies to offer a rich set of virtual
infrastructure cloud services. These XCP cloud services can beleveraged by cloud providers to enable isolation and multi-tenancy capabilities
in their environments. XCP also provides the user requirements of security, availability, performance, and isolation for private and public
cloud deployments.
